Biography:

 
 

I joined University of Houston - Clear Lake as Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Computer Information Systems in August 2011. Prior to joining UH Clear Lake, I was Research Assistant Professor at the Computational Physiology Lab (CPL) in the department of Computer Science of the University of Houston. I received my PhD and MS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Houston.


My research interests include mobile computing, pervasive gaming, human computer interaction, computational physiology, biomedical image processing and analysis, biometrics, machine learning, and computer vision. The department of computer science at the University of Houston has presented me with the Best PhD Award in 2010 for my dissertation work in “Physiology-based face recognition in the thermal infrared spectrum.” I have written several scientific papers and book chapters based on this work, including an article in the prestigious journal IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (Impact Factor: 3.810). I am the recipient of the Outstanding Paper Award at the 3rd International Summer School on Biometrics, Alghero, Italy, in 2006. I also received the Best Teaching Assistant Award from the department of computer science, University of Houston, in 2004.
